Whittlesey is close to the A605, approximately seven miles from Peterborough and some 20 minutes by car from the A1M, meaning easy access to all parts of East Anglia, the Midlands and beyond. The town was formerly
known as Whittlesea, the name retained for its station. From here, the rail journey to Peterborough takes about 10 minutes, the onward journey to London King’s Cross averaging an hour, or slightly longer if via Ely. The many
other rail destinations from Peterborough include Stansted Airport.
The town has two small supermarkets (Stanground, three miles away, has a Morrison’s, and both Tesco and Sainsbury’s can be found in March), as well as individual shops, a museum, leisure centre with swimming pool,
and restaurants, several with high Trip Adviser ratings. There are three primary schools, with a fourth in nearby Coates, and a senior school.
